Head of History at Manchester Met, Dr. Sam Edwards, an expert on the culture of commemorative practices, has written a thoughtful post on tomorrow’s VE (Victory in Europe Day) ‘celebrations’. The usual bank holiday Monday, the first Monday of May, has been moved to coincide with VE Day, with the PM striking a Churchillian note, and evoking the Blitz spirit to fight Corona virus.
